THE chief executive of Energy North is back from a Scottish Development International (SDI) trade mission to Louisiana and Houston in the US.
Ian Couper attended the LAGCOE energy show at the request of Louisiana Economic Development. He said the Scottish oil industry supply chain was highly regarded in the US, a position that could be exploited.
Mr Couper added: “Cautious development continues apace in the Gulf of Mexico and, as the US industry builds up again in the area, some skills gaps and innovation opportunities are emerging.
“Companies offering training and specialist services are much in demand, including onshore and offshore trades and consultancies with expertise in environmental and health and safety support. While at the LAGCOE exhibition in Louisiana, many US companies expressed an interest in joint-venture partnerships with Scottish supply-chain companies.”
Mr Couper said he was excited at the opportunities for his members in the US.
Energy North is the north’s leading organisation for energy and engineering businesses.
