SWIRE Oilfield Services of Aberdeen yesterday announced an expansion in the Far East.
The supplier of offshore cargo-carrying units has launched a new Singaporean subsidiary and the opening of a regional office in Singapore.
The new office was opened by chief executive Tor Helgeland, chief operating officer Rupert Bray and chief finance officer Lyall Dochard.
Swire Oilfield Services will be the platform for the group’s growth in south-east Asia, with 5% of global revenue forecast to come from Singapore by next year.
The company said it had already won multimillion-pound contracts with various oil and gas majors throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Swire serviced south-east Asia previously from its Australia operations, where the company has expanded from one to five bases and from seven to 47 employees in just two years.
Mr Bray said: “We have been delighted with the success of our Australia operations and we fully expect to replicate that success in south-east Asia through the opening of our Singapore office.
“South-east Asia is an important region for the oil and gas industry. The successful development of Swire Oilfield Services in this region will significantly enhance the size of our global business.”
