Global Energy Group, a Scottish contracting and service-based company which supports the international energy industry, announced a Norwegian tie-up yesterday.
It has joined forces with a local company to further strengthen its Norwegian links and develop new opportunities. Global has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Hanoytangen division of Bergen Group Offshore.
The partnership is expected to bring mutual benefits to both groups, with a key aim of strengthening the firms’ profiles in the UK and Norwegian offshore markets.
Bergen is a maritime industrial company with a predominant focus on the offshore industry and special-purpose vessels.
Bill Hamilton, vice-chairman of Global Energy Group, said: “By working closely with Bergen Group Offshore, we aim to further expand our presence in the Norwegian market and bring further business into Bergen Yard which is extremely high quality and in a prime location with easy access to the main shipping fairway along the Norwegian coast.
“Not only does the yard provide all of the key services we would require quayside, it also has five quays featuring roll-on, roll-off ramps, no weight limitations and good deepwater facilities.
“Further to this, Bergen Group’s excellent storage, offices and accommodations offer a particularly attractive package to us and our client base. We look forward to working with Bergen Group Offshore’s Hanoytangen for many years to come.”
Tor Gjertsen, project manager for Bergen Group Offshore, also welcomed the MOU signing: “The intention of the agreement with Global Energy Group, which has an established reputation for quality and safety within the inspection, repair and maintenance marketplace, is to increase our presence in the UK offshore market.”
Global Energy, with offices in Aberdeen, Evanton and Invergordon, employs more than 2,200 people across its various divisions. It also has premises in Dubai, Houston and Trinidad with plans to open offices in Canada, Norway and west Africa.
