Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has set up an expert group to improve rig capacity on the Norwegian continental shelf.
The group will try to identify the obstacles limiting rig capacity and propose measures to solve the issue, it said.
Its first meeting will be tomorrow and will include participation by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway, represented by Magne Ognedal.
The suggestion for an expert group was launched in the Petroleum White Paper that was published in June last year.
Lack of deepwater rig availability has been an issue west of Shetlands in the UK and also globally.
