The Norwegian subsidiary of UK oil and gas firm BG Group has found oil in two wells in the northern Norwegian North Sea.
According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD), BG Norge proved oil and “very good reservoir quality” in a wildcat well on the Jordbaer Vest prospect and in a sidetrack appraisal well, both drilled by the West Alpha drilling rig.
The wildcat well also production tested.
NPD estimated the discovery to be between 9.4million-25million barrels oil equivalent.
It also said development could be to the Knarr production ship.
The appraisal well will be temporarily plugged for potential use in a future development.
