Scottish company Dron and Dickson (D&D) said yesterday it had signed partnerships with firms in north Africa and the Middle East in an effort to enter the two markets.
The Stirling-based firm, which designs, supplies and maintains electrical equipment used mainly in the oil and gas sector, set up agreements with Abu Dhabi-based Al Yaseah Group and SeaHarvest, who will act as its agents. Al Yaseah provides construction, consultancy and support services, while SeaHarvest supplies products and services to the oil and gas industry.
D&D has a 210-strong workforce, with most of its work carried out at Aberdeen offices employing 30 people.

Aberdeen-based oil and gas service firm Aiken Group said yesterday it had just completed a contract worth £4.6million on a North Sea platform.
The deal with Wood Group PSN involved upgrade work on four levels of the main accommodation unit on Total’s Elgin PUQ platform and hook-up work on four levels of a new modular recreation block.

Aberdeen firm Rock Solid Images (RSI) said yesterday it expected its full-year results to reveal a narrowing of pre-tax losses.
RSI, which provides geophysical processing and interpretation consulting services to the oil and gas industry, said losses in the year to August 31 would be £2.8-£3million, against £4.7million in the previous 12 months. Revenue is expected to be about £4million for the latest year, up from £3.6million.

Aberdeen-based Plexus Holdings said yesterday it had won a new £800,000 contract from Centrica Energy. The deal covers wellhead equipment, a mudline casing-support system and services for oil and gas exploration in the central and northern North Sea. It is the second contract for Plexus from Centrica in the UK North Sea.

Aberdeen oil and gas service company Brinker Technology has named vice-president of sales and operations, Kenny McAllister as its new chief executive. He takes over the role from Kevin Stewart, who stepped down in May two years after joining the firm.
