A CONSTANTLY widening technology arena is central to the long-term growth of the global subsea sector, an oil and gas industry event in Aberdeen was told yesterday.
Aker Solutions senior vice-president Paal Helsing flew in from Norway to Aberdeen to address about 140 industry professionals during a technology day at the global engineering and construction group’s Dyce base.
Mr Helsing said partnerships were becoming an increasingly prominent feature of technological innovation.
He said: “Our ability to deliver subsea services across the life cycle of an oil field has been developed thanks in part to close and long-standing links between our in-house product-development teams and academia, research institutes and technology companies.
“Essentially, this means we have a base of research and technological expertise extending beyond the borders of the company, creating an arena for creativity and innovation.
“I believe those partnerships will continue to grow in importance across the wider subsea industry as smarter solutions become an ever more significant feature of offshore production globally.”
The event featured a series of technical presentations and tours to showcase the company’s products and technologies.
Products and services in the spotlight during the event included subsea production systems, steel-tube umbilicals, processing and boosting technologies, template and manifold systems, well-intervention and marine operation and installation services.
