International oil and gas facilities service provider Petrofac announced yesterday a multimillion-pound North Sea deal.
Its offshore engineering and operations business has secured a new contract with Britannia Operator Limited (BOL).
The deal, which is worth £35million over five years, with a further five-year extension option, will see Petrofac continue to provide operations and maintenance support services for Britannia’s continuing operations in the central North Sea.
Petrofac has been working with Britannia – a 50:50 joint venture between Chevron and ConocoPhillips – since 1998.
The new contract was won after a competitive tender.
Bill Dunnett, managing director of Petrofac Offshore Engineering and Operations, said: “We are delighted that Britannia has chosen to award this new contract to Petrofac, giving us the opportunity to further build upon our existing strong relationship and knowledge and experience of the asset.
“This contract forms a core part of Petrofac’s offshore engineering and operations business and will enable us to continue to demonstrate our ability to deliver safe and efficient operations and maintenance capabilities in the UK North Sea.”
Around 90 Petrofac people, both onshore and offshore, work on the Britannia contract.
The Britannia gas/condensate field development is 130 miles north-east of Aberdeen.
Under an agreement said to be unique to the UK, Chevron and ConocoPhillips established separate company BOL to act as operator of the field.
Britannia came on stream in 1998.
