NOBLE Corporation has exercised options with Sembcorp Marine’s subsidiary Jurong Shipyard, for the construction of two North Sea capable JU3000N class jack-up drilling rigs.
This near $500million Far East order will bring to six the total number of new jack-up rigs the US drilling contractor will have under construction with the Jurong Shipyard.
David E. Williams, Noble’s chairman, president and chief executive, said: “Opportunities for these units are evident in several offshore regions, including the North Sea, Middle East and Asia.
“This latest rig order reflects our continuing commitment to expand our ownership of industry-leading offshore drilling technology, enabling us to address some of the most demanding well construction challenges around the world.”
The price tag for each of the latest rigs ordered will be around $245million. The fee includes project management and start-up costs.
