LEADING industry figures will take to the podium at this year’s Subsea 2011 conference in Aberdeen on Wednesday, February 9.
Frank Bee, head of subsea at Shell, BP’s subsea head Ross Kinnear and Colin Welsh, chief executive at Simmons and Co International, will kick off the conference with a look to the future of the sector and how its prosperity can be secured.
More than 2,000 people are expected to attend the conference and accompanying exhibition, which continues into the following day. Europe’s largest event for the subsea industry – which has the theme of global connections – will be held in the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
The Shell-sponsored sponsored event will cover topics including major global projects, health, safety and environmental issues, innovation, operating strategies and legislation, skill development, recruitment and retention, integrity, reliability and obsolescence.
Subsea UK chief executive Alistair Birnie said: “Every year we set out to deliver a thought-provoking, stimulating conference which covers the key areas on which we need to concentrate to see the subsea sector flourish.
“This year we have an array of high-profile, experienced and passionate speakers whose expertise, knowledge and pragmatic approach will benefit all delegates from across the supply chain.”
On the Wednesday evening, Subsea UK hosts the fifth annual subsea awards dinner to celebrate the excellence, innovation and outstanding achievements across the sector.
Sponsored by Brewin Dolphin, the sellout dinner will feature speaker Lord Jones and recognise the achievements of individuals and companies to an audience of more than 700 people.
