SUBSEA intervention specialist TSMarine Subsea revealed yesterday that it planned to recruit a further 25 staff in Aberdeen.
The Granite City firm also said it was now trading under a new name – Marine Subsea (UK) – following the recent management buyout of the business supported by Norwegian company Marine Subsea.
Marine Subsea (UK) employs more than 20 people from its headquarters at the Regent Centre, in Regent Road. It is responsible for the operational management of new multipurpose subsea-construction and light well-intervention vessel Sarah.
Alasdair Cowie, managing director of Marine Subsea (UK), said his firm’s reputation as a leading provider of subsea services would grow further still under the Marine Subsea name.
He added: “Through the support we received from Marine Subsea for the management buyout, we are moving the business forward to a new level, with a bigger support base for our offshore global subsea operations, while employees enjoy the added benefits of being part of a larger global organisation.
“We have a healthy order book for next year and need to recruit at least 10 senior offshore personnel to manage planned operations from the Sarah vessel. We also have plans in place to create an extra 15 jobs in the first quarter of 2010. Given the current climate, this is a good position to be in.”
Marine Subsea owns a fleet of eight units in operation or under construction: two multipurpose/intervention vessels, five offshore-support units and one semisubmersible crane vessel. In addition, the company has secured a service contract for a deepwater drillship.
