One of the north-east’s key public sector figures, David Rennie, is moving to a new role with the international arm of Scotland’s enterprise agencies in mid-February.
He is to become head of global energy, responsible for supporting Scottish firms to trade globally, at Scottish Development International.
Mr Rennie is currently head of partnerships for Scottish Enterprise (SE), focused on the north-east, and before that he was SE’s head of oil and gas.
In the accompanying video, he talks about overseas opportunities for Scottish energy companies.
Looking forward to his new job, the former Ellon Academy pupil and Robert Gordon University student said: “I will lead Scottish delegations at key overseas events such as OTC (Offshore Technology Conference) in Houston and Adipec (Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference) in the Middle East.
“In addition, I will organise trade events to build relationships with potential customers for Scottish companies and offer a range of business support activities to current and potential new exporters.
“We want Scotland to be leading the way globally in creating energy solutions to meet the net-zero agenda, just as we have been for oil and gas in previous decades.”
