LAMPRELL, a specialist provider of engineering services to the international oil&gas industry, has secured two significant new contract awards from Fred Olsen Windcarrier totalling $320.4million.
Each engineering, procurement and construction contract award from Windcarrier is for the design, construction and delivery of a Gusto MSC NG-9000-class self-elevating and self-propelled offshore wind turbine installation vessel.
Both 130.8m length overall by 39m breadth vessels will be built at Lamprell’s Jebel Ali facility and will be delivered in Q2 and Q3 of 2012.
If options for two further vessels are exercised, the order book will total approaching $700million.
The design weight of each will be more than 14,000 tonnes. They will be equipped with dynamic positioning, high-speed jacking systems and an 800-tonne crane and be capable of steaming at up to 12 knots. Three Voith Schneider propeller units will be fitted aft and three tunnel thrusters forward.
Each vessel will have accommodation for 80 personnel and a payload capacity in excess of 5,000 tonnes.
The working deck area will be some 3,200sq m. A helipad capable of accepting a Super Puma-class aircraft is specified. In addition to these contracts for two units, Lamprell and Windcarrier have executed an option agreement for two further vessels.
The exercise periods for these units are 12 months and 18 months, respectively.
