A GROWING project-management consultant set up by two former Marathon Oil staff has set its sights on turning over £8million annually by the end of 2012.
Aberdeen-based Petrex, which was turning over £1million last year, has just completed its largest major project, helping to manage £50million worth of work on Ithaca Energy’s £180million Athena development in the North Sea.
This has involved the completion of a floating production vessel mooring system beneath the sea surface in the field.
It has also taken on a new business director, Tony Evans, previously subsea business manager at Bibby Offshore.
The firm said the project was a milestone, It was now seeking more major project work and would also be looking to move into front-end engineering and design work in the future.
Managing director Steve Dempster said: “We have a fresh dynamic approach to delivering projects such as Athena. We field a strong experienced team that can integrate and manage the project from cradle to grave.”
Petrex has about 20 people in its projects team and says it has a flexible, lean approach to staffing using experienced people and not over-committing. Mr Evans said this was where the firm saw its strength.
