To support and develop the capabilities and capacity of the UK supply chain, Oil & Gas UK runs a wide range of activities including the annual PILOT Share Fair, which takes place in Aberdeen.
This year, due to increasing interest, we have relocated the event to the main arena at AECC. The sponsor is CAN.
The PILOT Share Fair is organised by the industry, for the industry. The objective is to encourage two-way communication which ‘oils the wheels’ of business.
With better information on the industry’s forward agenda, the supply chain has the opportunity of achieving more timely delivery of key equipment, expertise and personnel which in turn increases efficiency and reduces costs.
The significant rise in the number of delegates signing up to attend this year’s Share Fair reflects the findings of Oil & Gas UK’s quarterly business confidence survey.
Providing an overall measure of industry confidence, the index uses a 100-point scale, with a higher rating (above 50) indicating a positive outlook and a lower rating (below 50) representing a more negative viewpoint.
The Q2 Index indicates that, broadly speaking, there is a positive outlook across the industry. In the three months to the end of June 2010 the overall industry index rose one point from 61 in Q1 to 62 in Q2.
The supply chain community in particular registered a buoyant level of business confidence with 65 points, the highest recorded since the survey began in early 2009.
Share Fair will host a number of authoritative speakers representing major oil and gas players from both the operator and supply chain communities who will be sharing details about their strategies for developing projects within the UKCS over the next 18 months.
This year we have a record-breaking number of speakers delivering more than 160 presentations which will provide delegates with the opportunity to hear from a broad cross section of oil and gas companies.
In fact, we are advising companies to send several representatives along so they can get the most benefit from the quality and quantity of the presentations on offer.
Delegates will be among the first to hear from the major oil and gas players about UK oil and gas business development opportunities, estimated to be worth £4billion.
Since announcing the PILOT Share Fair in July, the line-up of presenters has expanded by two more operators and four more firms in the supply chain.
The planned line-up of 20 speakers comprises representatives from AGR Petroleum Services, Aker Solutions, Amec, BP, Centrica Energy, Chevron North Sea, ConocoPhillips, Enquest, Fairfield Energy, Maersk Oil North Sea, Mobil North Sea, Premier Oil, PSN (Production Services Network), RWE Dea, Shell UK, The SLP Group, Talisman Energy, Technip, TOTAL E&P UK and Wood Group Engineering (North Sea).
The PILOT Share Fair has grown steadily since its inception 12 years ago. It continues to provide an excellent opportunity for delegates to improve their understanding of the market’s future needs, allowing companies to make informed decisions about the investments they want to make in support of their business development plans.
In addition to the presentations, delegates can book one-to-one business discussion sessions in advance of the PILOT Share Fair. They provide small and medium-sized enterprises with the opportunity to meet potential clients face-to-face and have detailed discussions about future business plans. Allocated on a first come first served basis, these individual sessions are one of the event’s most sought-after attractions so we advise delegates to book early.
PILOT Share Fair is the only one-stop shop of its kind for the oil and gas industry. Book your place at www.oilandgasuk.co.uk/ pilotsharefair/
