RPS Energy officially opened its new Aberdeen office yesterday in the city’s Carden Place.
The firm said it had further strengthened its presence in the Granite City in response to continued buoyant demand for its services.
RPS Energy describes itself as one of the world’s largest suppliers of technical consultancy to the energy industry.
The new leased office replaces three others in Aberdeen, but the business still retains a laboratory at Dyce. Fiona Dawson, senior director based in Aberdeen, said: “We are very pleased to be bringing operations together under one roof in Aberdeen.
“The new office will give us the space we require to expand our local workforce.”
Woking-based RPS Energy has been in Aberdeen for 15 years and employs 50 people in the city. There are other UK locations plus regional offices abroad in the Middle East, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, America, Canada and Russia.
John Pothecary, managing director for RPS Energy’s European, Africa and Middle Eastern region, said: “When we started developing energy services within RPS Group nearly seven years ago, we had firmly in mind that RPS’s credentials as a leading environmental and health and safety consultancy would be of huge benefit to the then-emerging renewables industry as well as to a rapidly changing oil and gas industry. This has proved to be the case and a significant amount of our work is now based around ensuring that energy projects are carried out not only to the best technical standards but in a environmentally sustainable way.
“The UK continues to lead the way in this respect and this includes those operators based in and working out of Aberdeen.
“We expect that Aberdeen will continue to thrive as a centre of innovation for the foreseeable future and intend to be part of this community, continuing our commitment to Scotland and participating in its future growth.”
