Hess Corp has approved phase three of the development of the Danish North Sea South Arne field.
Noreco, a Norwegian partner in the field, has indicated that the third phase will see the drilling, completion, and stimulation of 11 new production wells that will eventually be produced via two new wellhead platforms which will be tied into the existing South Arne production platform.
South Arne has been on production since 1999 and currently has an output of approximately 25,000 barrels oil equivalent per day.
Production from phase three is expected towards the end of 2012 and will significantly increase the overall recovery of reserves.
Hess operates Block 07/89 and the South Arne field with 57.5%. Partners comprise DONG with 34.4%, Noreco (6.6%), and Danoil (1.5%).
