SCOTTISH energy-equipment supplier MacLean Electrical has expanded its international reach.
The Dingwall company has opened new offices in Melbourne, Australia and Qatar, in the Middle East, following record growth in turnover, which topped £100million last year.
MacLean, which supplies industrial and hazardous-area electrical equipment and cables to the oil and gas industry, and other markets, already has a Middle East presence in Dubai.
It took a direct foothold in the Asia-Pacific region three years ago by buying supply company JT Day in Perth, Western Australia.
“Now the latest base in the south-eastern state of Victoria provides a platform for customer communications and new growth across Australia and farther afield.
The Qatar office provides an essential local presence needed to win business in the country’s gas market.
MacLean employs 190 people and its network also includes America, plus two business units in Aberdeen, and branches at Wick, Cumbernauld and Newcastle.
It is also looking to the renewable-energy sector through its international projects group.
Managing director Donnie MacLean said: “Our Australian and Middle East operations have proven very successful and recent wider group development has included greatly enhancing our systems and services. Global economic conditions will affect many companies in the current year but we are fitting ourselves for a forthcoming new wave of energy and other project releases and we fully intend to invest further in the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and beyond.”
