THE winners of the Oil & Gas UK Awards 2008 were announced at a ceremony last night.
More than 600 people attended the dinner at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
In the individual category, Caroline Gill, a geologist with Shell UK, won the award for overall excellence. Kevin Sinclair, a instrument technician/operator with Wood Group Engineering (North Sea), was named young technician of the year.
Steve Bedford, a well services manager with BP, was honoured for mentoring.
In the corporate category, Venture Production and Subsea 7 won the joint award for supply chain business innovation. Subsea 7 also collected the honour for supply chain professional development.
Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy presented winners with a specially commissioned trophy designed by sculptor Elin Isaksson.
The winners in the individual category also received a cheque for £500 each.
Oil & Gas UK chief executive Malcolm Webb said: “The awards recognise the contribution being made today by a new generation of young people and their mentors, as well as the benefits of effective working relationships between operators and contracting companies.”
