Food and facility-management service provider Sodexo Remote Sites Scotland revealed yesterday that it had landed North Sea contracts worth more than £220million in the past year.
The Aberdeen-based company said this represented double-digit percentage growth and had led to a significant increase in its workforce.
The bulk of the work was for renewal of contracts in the UK, Norwegian and Dutch sectors with oil industry clients such as Marathon, Transocean, Diamond and Seadrill.
The total also included nearly £36million of new work in the UK and Dutch sectors, however, for firms including Well Ops, Dolphin, Ensco and AMEC.
The new deals meant more than 170 people joining the Sodexo ranks from rivals, while the renewals were good news for nearly 900 employees of the Granite City company.
Lindsay Tocher, Sodexo’s senior vice-president, said: “We are delighted to be achieving such strong results within the current economic challenges by securing such a strong portfolio of business.
“In the last year we achieved double-digit percentage growth and 100% client retention.
“Our service sets us apart from the competition.
“I believe that there are two clear reasons for our success.
“First, we have grasped the economic challenges as an opportunity to work closely with our existing clients in developing innovative solutions to support the long-term sustainability of our business – this has been particularly well supported by our staff, who have been fantastic in embracing these challenges.
“Second, we have been successful in growing our new client portfolio based on that strong commitment of working with our clients to develop long-term value added solutions to their business.”
Sodexo manages more than 100 client locations from its North Sea headquarters in Aberdeen.
The parent group is based in Paris.
