MONTROSE oil and gas technology manufacturer Merpro has shipped out a consignment of produced-water hydrocyclone modules to Abu Dhabi.
Merpro said yesterday the package consisted of two modules weighing 85 and 103 tonnes (93.5 and 113.3 tons) respectively, and was part of a £12million project for Merpro with Maersk Oil Qatar.
The company says produced water from separation trains or wells is fed into the hydrocyclones to reduce the level of oil content in the water to typically fewer than 40 parts per million (ppm).
This allows safe discharge of the water.
Established in 1979 at Montrose, Merpro is a designer and manufacturer of upstream topside production-process equipment for the oil and gas and related industries.
The company, which employs more than 200 at locations including its headquarters, Houston, Mexico, Cairo, Lagos and Singapore, has previously delivered sand-handling equipment comprising an online vessel de-sander and three sand-cleaning skids to Maersk Oil Qatar.
It is also completing, in Dubai, two micro-bubble flotation skids to reduce further the oil content in water to fewer than 5ppm, for the same end user.
The company has 20 years’ experience in building and supplying de-oiling hydrocyclone technology into major produced-water treatment process packages.
Merpro will celebrate 30 years in business in April, and says 2009 looks like a busy year. It plans to exhibit at the OE oil and gas event in Aberdeen in September and will also be present at the OTC show in Houston in May.
In addition, the company will take part in the Offshore South East Asia trade show, in Singapore, in December.
Merpro Group operates through five firms: Merpro, Merpro Tortek, Merpro Products, Merpro Leisure, which owns the Links Hotel at Montrose, and Merpro Americas.
