Anadarko expects to complete its Lagosta-2 appraisal well on its operated Mozambique Offshore Area 1 block (Rovuma Area 1) around the end of this month. The well is being drilled with the drillship Belford Dolphin at a location about 7.4km north of the Lagosta-1 well-site.
The company is also engaged in early-stage discussions with major liquefied natural gas buyers (LNG) with a view to securing long-term commercial contracts for the planned production from the apparently massive Rovuma Area 1 project.
Further, Anadarko and its partners in the promising licence, including UK minnow Cove Energy, have secured drillship capacity to continue the high-impact appraisal, testing and exploration programme on the block with the aim of achieving an increase in the estimated recoverable gas resource of 15-30trillion cu ft or more.
