A SUPPLY-CHAIN event for the offshore-windpower industry is taking place today in Aberdeen.
Speakers will highlight offshore-wind opportunities in the UK, while there will also be an exhibition area.
The event is aimed at companies with the capability to supply and service the industry, particularly those that may not yet have considered the sector.
UK Energy Minister Lord Hunt will deliver the keynote address at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre gathering, hosted by Scottish Enterprise (SE) in partnership with the Crown Estate.
Adrian Gillespie, SE director of energy and low-carbon technologies, said: “Scotland is leading the way in setting targets for carbon reduction.
“We also have world-leading capabilities within our existing and potential renewables supply chains. Maxim-ising the involvement of Scottish companies in offshore wind makes sense all round. It’s good for the economy and good for offshore-windfarm developers to have strong local partnerships in place.”
Mr Gillespie said today’s event – the first of 12 nationwide – was a chance for businesses to see the huge growth opportunities offshore-wind deployment presented and to meet key decision-makers in the sector.
Highlands and Islands Enterprise is hosting one, at the Drumossie Hotel, in Inverness on Tuesday.
