WORKERS and visitors at the Edinburgh headquarters of Scottish oil explorer Cairn Energy were confronted by a polar bear yesterday.
Luckily, it was only a stuffed animal put there by conservation group Greenpeace in protest at the company’s drilling activities offshore Greenland.
Greenpeace, which is concerned about the potential risk of an oil spill in the area, said office workers, tourists and locals flocked to see what “Paula” was up to and “have a quick cuddle”, adding: “A few of our volunteers scrambled up ladders and slapped stickers on the walls, making it clear who we were protesting against.”
