A LEADING figure in North Sea oil and gas circles has had a change of job over the festive season, the Press and Journal can reveal.
Brian Nixon, who was energy team director at Scottish Enterprise (SE), is about to be unveiled as the first chief executive of fledgling Aberdeen-based organisation Decom North Sea. Decom was set up last year to help UK offshore supply firms enter the potentially lucrative North Sea decommissioning market. It is understood Mr Nixon will take up his new role next Monday.
Decom chairman Murdo MacIver would not comment on or confirm the appointment, saying only that an announcement would be made next week. A spokesman for SE confirmed Mr Nixon had left the quango for Decom just before Christmas. Mr Nixon, a qualified mechanical engineer, was sales and marketing director at Wood Group Engineering before he joined SE in September 2001.
Doubts over his future at SE emerged last summer, when it emerged the agency was appointing a new head of energy – Adrian Gillespie.
