THE Aberdeen office of Canadian oil company Nexen Petroleum UK celebrated its links with Mackie Academy, Stonehaven, at a reception in the glass palace of Nexen House at Altens.
The firm’s director of operations, Ian Sharp, said the business partnership with the school, which had come about through the Scottish Executive’s Determined to Succeed initiative, had brought benefits to both parties.
He gave the school’s new rector, Andrew Griffiths, a cheque for £3,000 which will be used for an IT project in the school library.
Mr Sharp also presented Lord Provost Peter Stephen with a cheque for £25,000 for the Lord Provost’s Charitable Trust which is to be used for a cancer research project in Aberdeen.
Mackie Academy musicians played throughout the reception.
