BUSINESS leaders met in Aberdeen last night to discuss how the oil and gas industry will develop over the next 30 years.
Aberdeen law firm Stronachs hosted the debate in the Marcliffe Hotel to discuss how energy supply would meet demand over the coming decades.
The panel at the event included Colin Welsh, chief executive of Simmons and Co; Taqa Bratani managing director Leo Koot, and oil and gas expert Professor Alex Kemp.
Speaking before the event, Mr Welsh said: “As still the most cost-effective and proven source of energy in the mix, oil and gas will remain the oxygen of industry and will be fundamental as a source of energy over the next 30 years.
“There is no doubt that the challenges on the supply side are increasingly complex – be it in terms of availability of resource or global political and economic conditions – and the world will have to get used to higher crude prices.”
