ABERDEEN-BASED Hydro Group is supplying products for a project by the Turkish navy to build what is thought to be the largest acoustic range in the world.
The firm is a designer and manufacturer of underwater cables and connectors.
It is manufacturing a full-connectivity system for the Turkish navy’s acoustic range, which is primarily for the calibration of systems, sea trials and exercises.
The six-figure deal is one of a number of overseas projects the company has worked on recently as it steps up its international focus.
Hydro managing director Doug Whyte said: “We have competed for tenders for a number of extremely interesting pieces of work this year taking place in the UK and internationally.
“Winning the contract to supply a full connectivity system for what will be the biggest acoustic range built to date is very exciting for Hydro Group and we hope it will lead to further work in future.”
In addition, Hydro has had a number of visits by overseas delegations and politicians to its headquarters, as it sets about laying the foundations for expected growth of the company over the next 12 months.
Hydro Group has also been seeking firms in Brazil to form a joint venture.
