EXXONMOBIL wants to reduce its exposure on the Irish Atlantic Frontier by reducing the size of its stake in the potentially large offshore Dunquin gas prospect in the Porcupine Basin.
Two main targets, Dunquin North and Dunquin South, have been identified on the acreage on offer. Both are gas/condensate prospects.
ExxonMobil estimates that the Dunquin North prospect has an unrisked mean recoverable volume of 4trillion cu ft of natural gas and 156million barrels of condensate, while Dunquin South is estimated at about 4.4TCF and 160million barrels. The corresponding estimated P10 volumes are 8.6TCF of gas and 322million barrels of condensate (Dunquin North) and 9.5TCF and 340million barrels (Dunquin South).
The plan is to drill an exploration well on the Dunquin North prospect, and well planning work is under way.
