Oil and gas operator Antrim Energy said yesterday it had submitted a field-development plan for the Causeway oil discovery in block 211/23d north-east of Shetland to the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
The plan, which covers a first phase of development for the eastern end of the field only, involves a 5.6-mile subsea tieback to the Dunlin platform to access an estimated 7.3million barrels of oil. Further phases would tap the central and western areas of Causeway.
Chief executive Stephen Greer said that by phasing projects, Antrim could minimise its initial capital commitment and could expect to fund subsequent phases from revenue generated by previous ones.
