Oil and gas commissioning and technology specialist qedi said today it had appointed two new directors and expanded its Aberdeen headquarters.
Barry Cann joins qedi as general director to head up the company’s Europe business division while David Hickey takes up the role of operations director and will oversee qedi’s international portfolio of projects.
Meanwhile Tony Davies, who was previously operations director and played a key role in developing the company’s GO Technology hub of specialist completions and commissioning management software, has been named technical director.
As well as strengthening its senior management team, qedi has created more than 200 positions over the last 12 months – 20% of them in Aberdeen.
The company has also secured additional office space at its Granite City headquarters – Salvesen Tower, Blaikies Quay – after moving into a second floor of office facilities to accommodate the growth in its team.
Qedi group managing director Stuart McLeod said: “The huge market demand for qedi’s niche commissioning and technology services is mirrored in the company’s spiralling geographical footprint, with opportunities regularly arising in new provinces and industry sectors. In order to capitalise on these exciting business prospects and continue to deliver a world-class standard of service to our clients, qedi’s infrastructure must continue to develop in line with the evolution of the market.”
Mr Cann’s expertise spans almost 30 years in design, construction, commissioning and decommissioning across oil and gas, brown and green field engineering, renewable energy, and the rail and nuclear industries.
He was previously managing director of Orion Completions and Commissioning Management Services.
Mr Hickey joins qedi from parent company Amec, where he was construction, completions and commissioning function head for Amec’s European oil and gas business.
Qedi now employs more than 450 people worldwide.
