First Minister Alex Salmond told All-Energy 2011 conference delegates in Aberdeen yesterday that the Scottish Government wanted the country to sell as much energy as it used by 2020.
In a video message screened at the opening session of the event, Mr Salmond said the government had set a target for Scotland to produce twice as much power as it needed in less than a decade.
The Aberdeenshire East MSP could not attend the renewable-energy showcase at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre because he was in Holyrood to be elected first minister.
Mr Salmond is looking for renewable-energy production alone to meet all of Scotland’s power demand by the end of the decade.
