ExxonMobil has started drilling the Domino-1 deepwater exploration well in the Romanian sector of the Black Sea. The well is being drilled on the Neptun block (block XIX), 170km offshore in about 1,000m of water.
According licence partner OMV Petrom, should the well succeed, it “would fundamentally change the perspective of the Romanian energy sector”.
