ConocoPhillips has reached a deal with Maersk Drilling to charter the high specification jack-up drilling rig Maersk Resolve for work in the UK sector of the North Sea.
The contract is worth some $26million to Maersk and covers the drilling of two wells with an estimated duration of 165 days. The contract is expected to start in May.
Maersk considers ConocoPhillips to be one of its key clients.
“The contract marks our third repeat customer for our high efficiency class jackup rigs, which now have close to 100% contract coverage for 2012,” said Claus V. Hemmingsen, CEO at Maersk Drilling.
Resolve is the third in a series of four high efficiency 350ft jackup rigs in Maersk Drilling’s fleet.
