Aberdeen energy service company RBG has from today become Stork Technical Services (RBG).
The Granite City business also revealed it had landed a £25million two-year contract extension with a North Sea operator which will lead to about 30 new offshore positions in 2012.
RBG was sold to Dutch group Stork Technical Services last year in a deal backed by private-equity partnership Arle Capital believed to be worth up to £250million.
The contract win will see the continued delivery of a range of integrated services including insulation, passive fire protection, blasting, painting, electrical, vessel cleaning and specialist access across three assets.
Stork said the award marked the continuation of growth experienced by RBG throughout 2011, when the company delivered record sales understood to be in excess of £320million.
It said this was driven by strong UK business, an increase in international operations, particularly in Azerbaijan and America, and expansion of the diving and subsea division.
Dave Workman, chief executive of Stork Technical Services (RBG), said: “Rebranding to Stork Technical Services is the start of an exciting time for our employees and business as we enter a new period of growth. We are stronger together as part of Stork and bringing together the best of both businesses means we can deliver a combined support package that sets a new benchmark for outstanding HSEQ (health, safety, environment and quality) performance and industry-leading service delivery.”
The Aberdeen unit employs more than 4,500 globally with service centres and offices in principal areas of energy exploration and production including Azerbaijan, Italy, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Trinidad and Tobago, the UK and US.
Doug Meikle, chief executive of Stork Technical Services, said: “The rebranding of RBG to Stork Technical Services is a significant milestone for both organisations. The contract extension and last year’s record sales at RBG again demonstrate that we acquired a major player and established support partner in the oilfield service market. Combining the innovative services and skills of the entire group will open up many new opportunities with existing and future clients and ensure we continue to deliver a safe, quality offering.”
