Scottish utility SSE said yesterday it had signed a 10-year gas deal with Shell to secure supply for its UK customers.
The Perth-based firm said the agreement represented about 5% of its forecast typical annual gas needs and the value would be linked to prevailing prices in the natural gas market.
Alistair Phillips-Davies, generation and supply director at SSE, added: “Fuel-supply contracts play a key part in helping us to meet our customers’ needs and contribute to the long-term stability of our energy portfolio. SSE has a good relationship with Shell and this long-term agreement offers an excellent opportunity to cover a portion of SSE future gas needs with an attractive pricing structure and minimal risk.”
