Gazprom has won a licence extension to the Russian Barents Sea acreage where the giant Shtokman gasfield is located.
The gas giant paid the Russian Mineral Development Agency a signature fee of around $33.6 million for the rights to the extension area, which lies to the west of the 137.7trillion cu.ft Shtokman core reservoirand is said to include extensions of the field.
