Repsol Sinopec Brasil has made a major oil discovery in the deepwater sector of the Campos Basin offshore Brazil with its Pao de Acucar exploration well.
The Repsol-Sinopec joint venture has reported that the discovery well encountered two accumulations of hydrocarbons with a total thickness of 500m ((1,640ft), one of the thickest found until now in Brazil.
ThePao de Acucar well is located on block BM-C-33 in 2,800m of water. First appraisals indicate high quality oil resources with excellent flowrates.
