Aberdeen-based oil and gas exploration firm Sterling Resources said today it had been jointly awarded exploration licenses in the Dutch North Sea.
Wintershall Noord Zee will be operator of the two licenses, to be owned jointly by Sterling and Wintershall, for a period of two years with a commitment to acquire seismic.
It builds on Sterling’s assets in the Netherlands, which include five licences acquired in 2010, on one of which it completed a successful well last month and is now looking at development options.
Sterling is listed in Canada with assets in the UK, Romania, France and the Netherlands.
