Premier Oil said today it would plug and abandon its Bluebell prospect in the central North Sea after reaching total depth.
The firm, operator and 60% owner of the licence containing Bluebell, added it had found “excellent sand quality” but that it was water wet.
Chief executive Simon Lockett said: “We recognised the geological risks of the Bluebell prospect and farmed down prior to drilling to manage this exposure.”
Premier will now move on to the Stingray well in the central North Sea and Carnaby well in the Catcher area, also in the central North Sea.
Drilling is expected to start on both wells in early April, with results expected in May.
