International oil service company Aker Solutions has appointed Matt Corbin to lead the development of its fast-growing UK subsea business.
Mr Corbin, who will be based in Aberdeen, joins the firm as it forges ahead with a major recruitment campaign in Aberdeen and London.
He has more than 17 years’ experience in the subsea oil and gas industry and was most recently vice-president and regional general manager of UK and Europe for GE Oil and Gas.
In previous roles he was financial controller and operations leader at Vetco Gray and project manager for Aker in Aberdeen and London.
Mr Corbin succeeds Alan Brunnen, who was promoted to executive vice-president of Aker’s subsea operations in September last year.
Mr Brunnen said: “Matt’s proven track record within the sector makes him a valuable addition to our organisation. I am delighted he has agreed to lead the next stage of the development of the subsea business in the UK.”
Aker has said it wants to create 300 jobs in Aberdeen and a further 300 at Aberdeenshire-based Aker Qserv.
