Wood Group Kenny (WGK) said today it had landed a contract with Shell Global Solutions International.
The deal, understood to be worth a multimillion pound sum, involves the provision of subsea, umbilical, riser and flowline engineering and construction management services to Shell worldwide.
There is a primary focus on the Asia Pacific region, along with other project-specific awards in Europe.
The contract was awarded for five years, with an option to extend for a further five years.
Steve Wayman, chief executive of WGK, said: “We believe that Shell’s achievements in the subsea industry are second to none, so this is a very important agreement for Wood Group Kenny as it will give us the opportunity to work on some of the most interesting and challenging projects in the world.”
WGK, which employs more than 2,300 people worldwide, is part of Aberdeen’s Wood Group.
WGK employs more than 500 people in Aberdeen and is described as the world’s largest independent specialist subsea, pipeline and riser engineering and management contractor.
A spokeswoman for Wood Group said there would be more WGK jobs in Aberdeen, Stavanger and Kuala Lumpur as part of the Shell contract, though she could not be more specific.
