Aberdeenshire-based deck-machinery specialist Ace Winches said yesterday it had exported Scotland’s heaviest air cargo.
The firm, based near Turriff, said it delivered a 125-tonne winch package to Superior Energy Services as part of a £4.2million contract with the Houston business.
The load was only half of the goods Ace provided for Superior but had to be transported by air rather than sea, in a huge Antonov 225 aircraft, from Prestwick Airport, because Superior needed it ahead of schedule.
Ace chief executive Alfie Cheyne paid tribute to the “commitment and dedication” of the firm’s staff to complete the order.
