£100m-plus win for firm in North Sea
Subsea 7 said yesterday it had won a £100million-plus contract from ATP Oil and Gas (UK)/Bluewater, the operator on the Cheviot Field in the North Sea.
The seabed-to-surface oilfield engineering firm gave few other details and a spokeswoman was unable to say of it would mean any additional jobs at Westhill, where Subsea 7 employs about 1,500 people.
Cheviot, about 75 miles east of Shetland, will use a moored floating processing facility to import oil and gas from four satellite drill centres.
Craig Group extends HQ
Shipping and energy service firm Craig Group has invested £400,000 to extend its Aberdeen HQ.
The company said yesterday it had added 900 square feet to its premises to accommodate more staff. Craig Group, which employs about 1,000 people, moved to the west end three years ago after 75 years based at Aberdeen harbour.
Its fleet, operated by North Star Shipping, now has 31 vessels in service with a further six under construction.
Wilton boss honoured
The chief executive of Wilton Group, which owns Aberdeen-based engineering firm PD&MS Energy, picked up the investor director award at the Institute of Directors business leaders’ dinner for north-east England. Bill Scott received the award in recognition of his work to attract funds and finance to the region and create jobs.
Trinidad oil discovery
Trinidad’s state-owned petroleum company has discovered 48million barrels of crude oil off the island’s south-west coast, said to be Petrotrin’s biggest discovery in a decade.
Officials said they did not know yet when drilling and commercial production would start.
