BG Group said today it had started its first production from the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The firm said output from the Gaupe field in the Norwegian North Sea was expected to reach about 15,000 barrels of oil equivalent (boe) per day during the third quarter of this year.
The field, estimated to contain gross recoverable reserves of about 30million barrels, is being produced through a cross-border subsea tie-back to the BG-operated Armada installation in the UK North Sea and piped to the UK.
BG, through its subsidiary BG Norge, operates owns 60% of the field, about 140 miles off the Norwegian coast, with Lundin Norway owning the rest.
