Energy firm GE Oil and Gas said yesterday it was to supply ATP Oil and Gas (UK) with subsea production equipment, ancillary systems and related services for the Cheviot oilfield project in the UK North Sea.
The £49million contract covers wellheads, subsea xmas trees and a subsea control system, to be used in conjunction with the ATP Octabuoy floating production and storage facility under construction.
GE Oil and Gas will also provide system engineering and design, procurement and on-site testing services.
Product shipments will begin in February 2013, with installation later in the year.
Cheviot, about 75 miles east of Shetland, is a redevelopment of a previous field.
GE Oil and Gas said it still had significant reserves which ATP, a unit of Texas-based ATP Oil and Gas could recover economically and with modern technology. Commercial operations are expected to begin in 2014.
GE Oil and Gas vice-president for subsea systems Rod Christie added: “This project is a good example of how GE can marshal extensive resources in order to help customers meet business challenges as well as technical problems.”
