Oil and gas industry leaders will gather in Aberdeen on Thursday morning to hear from a “new generation” of companies and the opportunities they see in the North Sea.
Oil and Gas UK (OGUK)’s breakfast briefing at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre is focusing on international companies which only started investing on the UK continental shelf (UKCS) in the past 10 years.
Regulatory issues posed by European Union safety proposals will take centre-stage.
The speakers include Archie Kennedy, UK managing director and vice-president Europe at Nexen Petroleum UK, Bill Transier, chairman, chief executive and president of Endeavour International and Jim House, regional vice-president and managing director at Apache North Sea.
Mr Kennedy will highlight his company’s current investments and ambitious plans for the future, and reflect on how recent changes to the tax and regulatory regime might affect operations in the UK.
Mr Transier and Mr House will also share their companies’ aspirations in the UK and explain how the regulatory regime could be further amended to boost business.
OGUK chief executive Malcolm Webb, who will chair the event, said: “With up to 24billion barrels of oil and gas still to recover from the UKCS and a (UK) Government which understands the need to invest, opportunities for dynamic, ambitious companies to pioneer new technologies and sustain successful businesses here are in abundance.
“I look forward to hearing our speakers, who between them have many decades of experience in exploration and production, share how their companies will seize the opportunities on offer in order to maximise recovery and create economic benefits for the country as a whole.”
