Aberdeen firm Maritime Assurance and Consulting (MAC) said yesterday a move to new headquarters would allow it to nearly double its workforce.
The relocation to Skene Street from Union Street comes after the firm, which provides a range of consultancy and support services to the worldwide marine, construction, drilling and floating production industries, enjoyed a successful first year in business.
MAC was set up by managing director Graeme Reid in January last year with a first-year turnover target of £650,000 but continued growth meant the actual figure was £1.5million. It now employs 17 people but plans to increase its workforce by a further 15 in the next two years.
The firm said its move to Skene Street’s Mackenzie building represented a £400,000 investment over the next five years and would provide more than three times as much space as its current home.
Mr Reid said: “I am delighted to have been faced with the problem of outgrowing our premises so quickly after having recorded such a fantastic first year in business.
“As well as having expanded from one member of staff to 17 we also added MAC Resourcing, our recruitment division, to the company portfolio and . . . it became obvious fairly early on that we may well have to move.
“The extra office space will allow us to work comfortably while continuing to expand.”
MAC has targeted £2million turnover in the current financial year but aims to double that over the next two years.
