Viking SeaTech, of Aberdeen, said yesterday it had signed a co-operation agreement with Swedish business MoorLink.
The Granite City firm, formerly Viking Moorings, describes itself as a global leader in mooring design and engineering. It also supplies workers, in addition to rig positioning, inspection, maintenance and support services.
It has bases in Singapore, Australia and Norway as well as the UK, but is targeting the Gulf of Mexico and Brazil for expansion; both areas where MoorLink is well established.
MoorLink designs, produces and instals swivel links, connections and wire clamps.
Wolfgang Wandl, Norway managing director of Viking SeaTech, said there had been a customer-and-supplier arrangement between the two companies for years, but that this was now being developed.
He added: “The components which MoorLink designs and manufactures can be key to the innovative operations which we carry out. They are design led and like us are all about new products, improving safety, improving reliability and improving performance.
“They are also a global business and they are strong where we are not and vice versa, so the genesis of this co-operation is to access each other’s networks and customers.”
