North-east oil and gas equipment-rental company Hiretech says it has achieved three key quality certifications to help grow the business.
Formed less than 18 months ago by Andy Buchan, the firm has received DNV accreditation for its quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems.
The three standards were gained with the assistance of a Support for Aberdeenshire Business grant from Aberdeenshire Council and a business-improvement grant from Scottish Enterprise.
Mr Buchan, who invested £1million to launch Hiretech, said the triple accreditation would boost his company’s opportunities to secure larger contracts with major energy-sector contractors.
He added: “While we have been fortunate that our existing customers have been satisfied with our management systems to date, gaining industry-recognised accreditations will open the doors to a larger audience and ultimately boost turnover.”
The firm has four staff and could expand this to eight in the months ahead. It aims to hit £500,000 turnover in its second year and double that in its third.
Based at Fintray, near Aberdeen, Hiretech provides equipment for fluid-pumping, subsea and diving activities and pipeline precommissioning, testing and decommissioning markets. Mr Buchan built up his Inverurie-based Buchan Technical Services business over 10-years before it was acquired by marine service company James Fisher and Sons in 2007 for nearly £5million.
